Unbearable recommendations

I just added the asshat lounge to my blogroll over there on the right. It's a pretty good show. Kind of like an American Jimmy Bastard without the shivs, blood, enforcers and broken bones. His post from January 4th will lay you flat. Also, just as a reminder, don't forget to click over to secondWide every once in a while. She's still posting consistently interesting photographs. I don't know how she does it.

* * *

What's the perfect Christmas gift for a 17-year old who had not one, but two traffic accidents just one month after getting his driver's license this past August? Why, you buy him a BMW 330ci which, according to the newspaper, goes 0-60 in about six seconds, of course.

Can you guess what happened? A violent wreck. He's dead and his two friends who were passengers, both 16, are in critical condition. One is in an induced coma.

Oh, by the way, he wasn't wearing a seat belt.

I've complained about this in the past so I won't elaborate. I'm sure the family is devastated. But as far as I'm concerned, the father should be brought up on manslaughter charges. Stupid ass. If that kid had taken out my family, or if that were one of The Daughters in a coma, I'd snap. Christ, I hate humanity sometimes.

I know this is really cold, but I have very little sympathy for the person who bought him that car. I do feel very bad for the other families, though.

Cat: I, too, feel awful about disparaging a father who lost his 17-year old son, but what in God's name was he thinking?

MIT: Just pinged you back. Sorry for the delay. I hardly ever check that account. Nobody writes! Woo hoo! Party in Brooklyn!

Yeah, I can just hear the internal dialogue.... "no, what he really needs is a better car".

Eish.

Dolce: The article profiled the family and I didn't want to get into stereotyping but they're from a culture of Long Island Manly Morons.

Sid: Yes, sadly, he was drunk on youthful stupidity.

First off i'd like to Thank You for adding me to ye olde blogroll, being compared to one Jimmy Bastard is about the highest compliment one can get, so thank you again, my head still ain't exactly right but i tend to agree with you, giving that kid a car like that was tantamount to handing him a loaded gun/syringe/whatever, as a parent isn't it our job to keep our kids safe? i too don't want to pile on and as i'm learning second hand losing a kid, no matter what, is a devastating and horrible thing, that said if my kid had that many traffic tickets at that age he'd be lucky if i bought him a fucking bicycle.

Thanks for the blog tips although I'm chasing my tail just now.
That awful waste of a young life. Some people are born deficient in common sense and it can be lethal.

There ain't nothin' common about common sense. And that certainly shows in that dad's attitude. "Manly Moron' is right. Sad that so many died... too bad is wasn't just father and son in the car. At least, that gene pool would have stopped there.

kono: The first car I'll get for The Daughters is a nice '92 Volvo. Nice and safe for their inexperienced asses. They can count on it.

Pat: Who the hell am I to judge how someone else raises their kids? But, for some reason, it really pissed me off and I had to vent.

Ponita: The dad owns a business. Is successful. You would think it would require a modicum of intelligence to accomplish that.

I suspect, right now, if someone pointed a loaded gun at that father's head he'd be grateful.

Eryl: That guy is going to think about it every day of his life.

Nurse: That's why I should be wealthy. I wouldn't do stupid things like that with my money.

i think about the cars the coconut krewe drove when they were young, in los angeles, btw, and all i can say is not one of those cars could go faster than 50mph if everyone in the car had wings! i think among them there might have been only 1 accident and no drugs, drink or foolishness was involved! and i thank the traffic gods for that every day! xoxoxox

p. thanks for the tips re the other blogs!

Two wrecks in one month rewarded by a hot little sports car? Good grief.

And no seat belt. Deosn't matter how safe the car is if you don't have your seat belt on.

Too bad for his friends and their families. And for him as well.
