The Unbearable Banishment: a question of love

a question of love

7-Year Old Daughter attempts to unlock the mystery of unconditional parental love while I tuck her in:

"Daddy, will you always love me?"

"Of course, I will."

"Even if I punch you in the eye?"

Daughter, you can punch me in both eyes. Just don't break my heart.

I asked my dad something similar last night.

"Dad, will you take me to the train station in an hour at 10pm, even though you did the same last night and I said thanks by forgetting my house keys and waking you up by ringing the doorbell in the early hours to get back in?"

"Hmmm. Yeah. Come on then."

That's love. And all down to this, apparently (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/science/article6078485.ece) another sunday times article for you!

Jo: Another timely and poignant article. Thanks! Keep ‘em coming.

Rob: Too cute? I’ll endeavor to keep my estrogen in check.

Daisy: Perhaps they got wind of your boarding school plans and changed their behavior accordingly.

Jimmy: God love ‘em sometimes. Sometimes I want to chuck them through the front window.

So far, my heart hasn't been broken by my kids, but I've recently experienced some teenage induced angina.

That is so adorable...my daughter (A) wrote a card once for me when she was in kindergarten; it said "my mom's favorite food was pasegiti and she weighs 4 tons."

By the way I just read this to mom and you made her cry. You are a great dad.

Cat-don't know how old the teenager is but good luck!

Mine hit me in the jewels with a cricket ball the other day. I still love him. I can't imagine not loving him!

Cat: Thank heavens my girls will NEVER cause me angina when they’re teens.

Will they?

MT: A has a way with words, doesn’t she?

AFM: THAT’S why you should have girls! They tend not to swing a mean cricket bat.
