Mamet-A-Rama

I have great news! This fall on Broadway, not only are they mounting a production of David Mamet’s Speed-the-Plow with Jeremy Piven and Raúl Esparza, but they’ve also just announced a revival of American Buffalo with John Leguizamo and Cedric the Entertainer. With apologies to Mr. Mamet: holy fuckety-fuck! Can you fucking handle that?

I use to have a first edition of Sexual Perversity in Chicago inscribed by Mamet thus: From that foul mouthed chronicler of contemporary America. I sold it for what is now a long-forgotten reason. I have regretted it ever since. I’ve sold many of my rare books for some terrible “need” that I can now no longer recall. But I remember the books, alright. I stopped making that mistake years ago.

I once "loaned" out a copy of a first edition of Love In The Time of Cholera to a girl I liked.

Yeah, "loaned."

Guess whether or not if I ever got that book back? Shame on me...

That book is in my top 5 and I would LOVE a first edition—preferably signed. Currently, there is a signed first in pretty decent condition on the market for $1,200.

Hunt her down. Get it back.

I felt the same way when I sold my Avengers Annual 10...

Love In the Time of Cholera is actually next on my reading list. I read One Hundred Years of Solitude on one of my last work trips and was completely in love with it.

J: Love In The Time... is BETTER. That book means a lot to me. Dive in!

N: The character Piven plays in Speed... is the exact same guy he plays in Entourage. Should be good.

Yeah, what TUB said. Unbelievable imagery in that book.

There's a story behind my attempt in getting it back, but I'll save it for gde...
